This desire, coupled with an interest in medical sciences, meant a career in nursing seemed to fit the bill. I have since found nursing to be an excellent career, as it gives you the opportunity to truly help people with evidence-based practices that have been tried and tested over time.

I joined HC-One in March 2019 in a temporary position with no experience of working in the care sector. However, as HC-One believes in its Colleagues and encourages growth, learning and development in their roles, I have been given the opportunity to develop from an Onboarding Administrator to a HR Assistant and now to a Team Leader position.

As part of the support centre, we focus on HC-One’s primary objective to provide the kindest possible care to our Residents, which we achieve by delivering the best possible service to homes.

I work as part of a small team in the support centre, assisting with the reception, switchboard and post room. I have been with HC-One since its inception in November 2011 and have seen it grow from strength to strength, from our refurbishment programme enhancing a home from home environment for our Residents, to excellent new learning and development programmes being launched for Colleagues.

As the first point of call for many people at HC-One, I am dedicated to helping in any way I can, whether I am liaising with a Resident, Relative, Colleague, or a member of the public. This is one of the things I love most about my job, as I have built up a great rapport with those who speak to HC-One regularly.

I joined HC-One as a Clinical Deputy Manager in November 2022. I chose HC-One as I share its guiding ethos of caring with kindness. As a Nurse that has always worked in care homes this is important to me – a move to a care home is a big life decision for our residents and I’m proud to work for a company that puts kindness front and centre.

Since joining HC-One I have received a lot of support and guidance with my professional development. It is my goal to work towards a position as a Home Manager. My manager has supported me to enrol in a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care to prepare me for the responsibilities of this role and I’m on track to graduate early next year. I would recommend HC-One to any nurse looking to develop their clinical skills or to move into a management position.
